TAN ZI CIN'S E-PORTFOLIO
In this project, we were required to identify a contemporary architecture in Asia and investigate through observation and readings on the chosen contemporary contexttual architecture issues in Asia. The building that I chose was The Triangle House in Bangkok, Thailand. Based on the selected building, we had to conduct literature review on its vernacular architecture reference attributues such as culture, construction methods, materials structure, spatial layout and etc. Through the literature review, The Triangle House is an adapted Thai Vernacular Architecture house and having strong contextual relations. Through some findings, I need to understand the Thai Vernacular Architecture and relate it back with the chosen contemporary house in the case study paper. All findings about the case study were summarized into an A2 presentation board.
This project is divided into two part: contextual architecture study and case study paper.
This project is driven by Architectural Design Studio 4, to support students' design through extensive research within the framework of Asia's Contextual Architecture, which focuses on students' selection of building, with research objective defined through in-depth literature review,guiding to a well-established case study paper structure and writing.

Part A: Contectual Architecture Study
By using the chosen building, The Triangle House, I identified the issue or the significant of study and define specific scope of study. Then, a good research title will be generated to reflect the research intention and specific scope of study, within the framework of Contextual Architecture and significance of study.In this project, I had proposed a case study focusing on Implications of Thai Vernacular Architecture Design Features in The Triangle House to Achieve Thermal Comfort. In addition, we were required to write the final research paper in A4 form paper with 2000 - 3000 words. Attached is the concept mapping, abstract paper, powerpoint presentation paper.

Reflections
Through this project, I have learnt to integrate architectural design and research through a significant case study by analyse the information in depth on The Triangle House, within the framework of vernacular and contextual architecture. Meanwhile, thanks to the guidance of my tutor, I able to identify significant elements of contextual contemporary architecture by investigation on the chosen building with different methods like books, magazine and website while understand the importance of contextual architecture which aid in my studio design. Moreover, I learnt in citation and blibiography in my research paper with writing skills to prevent plagiarism. This project allows me to improve my writing skills in critical interpretation of the building based on contetual architecture research, giving a valuable experience to produce a proper research paper with appropriate writing skills.
