TAN ZI CIN'S E-PORTFOLIO
This project is related to the semester 2 students' studio design project, retreat house where relates to a domestic size building. We are required to demonstrate our understanding of building services by proposing and designing the most appropriate systems for the building with drawings and diagrams which include
i) Electrical supply system
ii) Cold water and hot water supply system
iii) Sewerage and sanitary system
iv) Drainage system
and indicate appropriate specifications, symbols, legends, images, text, etc. to describe the planning and installation of all the building services. In addition, we also need to include specific clauses from Uniform building By-Law 1984 (UBBL) or other relevant Acts, Laws or guidelines which related to the proposed systems into the A2 presentation boards.

Through this project, I able to identify the relevant information related to electricity supply system, cold and hot water supply system, sewerage and sanitary system also the drainage system; While understand the components and function of these services system operate throughout the house. Moreover, I able to indicate appropriate symbol of the components and showing the operation of services system with clear schematic diagrams within the total design of building services planning and constrcution process. Besides, I was introduced to Uniform Buidling By-Laws 1984 (UBBL), Malaysian Standards and Guidelines through this project, where I was now able to considering the location and installation of services system in my design.

Through this project, I able to identify the relevant information related to mechanical ventilaton, air-conditioning system, mechanical transportation system and fire protection system; While understand the function of these services system operate throughout the commercial building. Moreover, I able to understandthe connections and position of equipments in different parts. Besides, I understand the principles and systems while study the space implications and regulations related to different building services. Last but not least, I able to understand the implications of By-Laws and regulations in the buidling in Malaysia.

This project required us as a group to choose a building within 5-storey high which can be either public or commercial building. Each group need to perform a through study and analysis of the following services system associated to the building:
i) Mechanical ventilation
ii) Air-conditioning system
iii) Fire protection system (active and passive fire protection system)
iv) Mechanical transportation system]
In a group of 6, Cheong Siew Ying (Eelyn), Chia Wee Min, Chua Chang Yeong (Ronn), Teoh Hui Yu, Wong Voon Yin and me(Tan Zi Cin), we have devided our tasks according to the given services system. Our chosen site visit is Setia City Mall which located at Klang area, as our case study building, It is the first mall which is silver rated GBI (Green Building Index) in Malaysia. Our group was led by Ms Yukeen from Setia City Mall Operation Department to visit the services rooms. We are required to produce two A2 board for our final findings and an A4 bound report.
