ARCHITECTURE CULTURE AND HISTORY 1

Part A of the project is a group and individual task where we had to form into a group of 4 person. My group members are Te Li Theng, Ting Peng Hang, and Tan Zi Jian. This is a project where we were required to create an online forum to explore the precedent studies of the building we chose by answering several questions that was listed on the brief. My group members have chose Reims Cathedral or Notre Dame de Reims which loacated in France as the building for our studies. Furthermore, we were required to find out and gather all the architectural information of the building we chose so that we have a better understanding of the building systems as well as recognize the series of important elements of design aspects of the particular building.

Through Part A of this project, I was able to exchange views, share and debate the knowledge I gained from the precedents studies of Reims Catheral, the Gothic style architecture building we chose with my group members. Besides, through Part A, I was learnt the skills of presentation and being prepared for the verbal presentation during studio critic session.

PART B : INDIVIDUAL ANALYSIS PRESENTATION BOARD

Part B is an individual project where we were required to produce an analysis presentation board consists of illustrative and abstractive diagrams, drawings which included the actual and conceptual ideas of floor plans, building sections, analysis diagrams and sketches expressing clarity of the precedent studies and narratives that explain our studies. In this part of assesment, we were required to composed all the information and drawings from part A into one A2 board and all the drawings and words must in hand-drawn and hand-written.

Through Part B, I have a better understanding of the history of building and the significant part of it in Gothic style of cathedral - Notre Dame de Reims. Also, as I chose the question related to the shape and design of exterior and interior of the building, I have better understanding to the reasons and conditions to build the cathedral during 1700's.

Part C of this project is a group work where we were required to create a 3D abstraction model with the dimension of 300mm x 300mm with 10mm depth by using balsa timber as the main material that can communicate the precedent studies and conceptual analysis of the building we chose on previous studies in part A and part B of the project. The final outcome of the model would be in 3D abstraction expresssing the building significant Parti of the precedent studies and conceptual analysis.Moreover, the final outcome of our model should communicate the important structure and components as well as the creative and innovative ideas and concepts.

Through Part C, I was able to have more understanding on the building structure where i can visual it through the model we have make besides of enjoying the process of making the model with teamwork of group members.
